Nagaoka Fireworks Sail

A Celebration of Peace

Watch the historic Nagaoka Fireworks illuminate Waikiki’s night sky from our luxury catamaran during the annual Honolulu Festival finale each March. These spectacular Japanese fireworks symbolize the peace and friendship between sister cities Honolulu and Nagaoka, carrying a profound message of world peace and unity. Skip the crowded beaches and enjoy unobstructed views of this breathtaking display from the water.

The Nagaoka Fireworks tradition began in 1946 as a memorial following the devastation of World War II, serving as both a tribute to victims and a prayer for peace and recovery. Since becoming sister cities in 2012, Honolulu and Nagaoka have shared this powerful tradition, with the fireworks honoring victims on both sides and symbolizing reconciliation between two cities once impacted by war. What was born from tragedy has blossomed into a beautiful celebration of friendship and a shared commitment to world peace.

8:00 PM departure time

Book early to reserve seats. With only one of these sails per year, the Nagaoka Fireworks Sail sells out fast!

The Holokai departs from the beach for all of our sails, so be sure to bring footwear that you can easily slip on and off! The specific beach for arrival and departure changes depending on the tides to ensure a safe boarding, so keep in mind that the departure spot may change and might not always be right outside the check in location at the Outrigger Reef Hotel (2169 Kalia Rd). The walk down to the beach may take from 5 to 10 minutes, a maximum of 0.3 miles down to the boat.

Any guests with mobility issues or are a slower walker: please call us at (808) 922-2210 to let us know after or before you book, so we can make the appropriate accommodations for your group, mahalo!
